to our collaborative teams. As a Structural Engineer – Level 4
located in Promontory, UT, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of
paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day
one. Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is seeking a senior
Structural Engineer to serve as the Bonded Structures Lead on our
Loaded Motor Design and Analysis team. This position will be at our
Propulsion Systems Division facility located in Promontory, UT.
Role description & Responsibilities: The Bonded Structures Lead is
responsible for evaluating the structural integrity of rocket motor
bonded structures such as raceway bracket-to-case bonds,
liner-to-case bonds, insulation-to-case bonds,
propellant-to-insulation bonds, and so forth. Analyzing structural
integrity of propellants, liners, insulation, and thermal
protection systems on solid rocket motors is also performed. These
rocket motors are produced at Northrop Grumman facilities in Utah,
which range in size from very large space launch boosters to small
subscale laboratory test motors. This includes a wide variety of
boosters used in launch vehicles for defense, space, and commercial
applications. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every
other Friday off. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited
to, the following: Lead for bonded structures analyses in Loaded
Motor Design and Analysis Interface with project engineers, process
engineers, design engineers, and other analytical groups (e.g.
ballisticians) Mentor other structural analysts in bonded structure
methods and PLI analyses Recommend, design, and analyze bonding
methods for rocket motor components Develop test and data
requirements for viscoelastic structures Evaluate test data to draw
conclusions and improve analytical modeling Develop and present
documented analyses to internal and external customers Improve and
update analytical methods and computer software Performing tasks in
adjacent structural roles such as metal and composite case
structures as needed Travel expectation of 0% - 5% Other duties as

innovators. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering
with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with
6 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 4 years of
professional experience. Must have the ability to obtain and
maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance Cumulative
GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher Basic knowledge of solid rocket motors and
their structural makeup Experience using commercial software
(Abaqus, CAD, FEM, and MS Office) Familiarity with statistics and
statistical methods Highly self-motivated Excellent written and
oral communication skills Excellent time management and personal
organizational skills Detail oriented and able to understand the
big picture Willingness to learn Preferred Qualifications: MS
Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace) with 6
years of experience and cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher Two
years of demonstrated experience with commercial finite element
software (e.g. Abaqus, ANSYS), including experience with python
scripts. Two years of demonstrated experience performing explicit
and implicit structural analysis General understanding of the
effects of strain rates, temperature, and aging on viscoelastic
structures and materials Experience performing technical analysis
and presenting to customers and stakeholders Experience defining
test requirements necessary to obtain data that informs structural
models. Provide structural analysis and design for thermal
protection systems (TPS) used on flight vehicles. Independently
develop and estimate mechanical properties using sparse datasets,
vendor-supplied data, and experimental data. Experience evaluating
large data sets and deriving conclusions, including use of
statistical methods for comparison Work closely with
multidisciplinary teams on problem-solving, design optimization,
and performance improvement. Define test requirements and develop
plans to validate structural models. Present designs and technical
results to stakeholders, including customers and internal teams.
Develop and refine processes for adhesive bonding techniques and
rubber bonding systems, ensuring compliance with engineering best

Total Rewards Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however,
Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining
base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the
position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and
current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may
be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary
bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to
reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share
in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director
positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition,
Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health
insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan,
Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or
