Job Title: Registered Nurse Float Pool Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Other Hours per Shift: 12 hours (Nights or Evening Mid Shift combo) Experience: One year preferred License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)/or ENPC Certification, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification Must-Have: Associate Degree in Nursing is required; Bachelor Degree in Nursing is preferred Description: Assumes responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and the patient/family. Identifies and meets the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. Promotes the optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through the use of the nursing process. Demonstrates personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values. Assesses patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and reviews of medical records and clinical data. Evaluates patient’s responses and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Develops and implements patient plan of care and observes outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrates competency in a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections. Promotes, advocates, and collaborates to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient. Provides patient/family education through assessment of patient/family learning readiness, needs, and abilities. Provides teaching and evaluates the effectiveness of teaching. Recognizes the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient’s preferences, values, and needs. Provides relationship-based care that strives to understand what is most important to the individual and actively engage them in all aspects of care. Delivers care with respect for cultural differences and the diversity of human experience. Delegates to non-RN personnel in accordance with nursing and hospital policies. Effectively uses time, personnel, equipment, and supplies to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care. Serves as a professional role model for all staff, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes. Manages resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs. Uses standards of care, hospital policies, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice. Functions effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. Precepts or mentors new staff or nursing students as needed. Seeks learning opportunities and continuing education. Strives to maintain skills and competence in clinical practice. Maintains professional records that provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning. Evaluates professional integrity and nursing practice in relation to practice standards and guidelines. Takes action to achieve goals identified during the evaluation process. Demonstrates commitment through ongoing participation in meetings. Understands the value of measurement and the importance of continuous quality improvement. Uses quality measures to improve performance and accountability for patient outcomes. Participates in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities. Utilizes current healthcare research findings to expand clinical knowledge.
