Job Summary Job Summary The Pediatric Cardiology Division in the
University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for
Clinical Nurse for our general cardiology clinic team. We are
seeking an experienced Registered Nurse who can provide excellent
care to pediatric patients, and an interest in cardiology. The
incumbent will coordinate care for patients seen in pediatric

based at the Primary Children’s Outpatient Services Building, just
east of Primary Children’s Hospital, on the benches overlooking

Care Coordination Obtain MD orders/testing and coordinate clinic
appointments and appropriate testing. Coordinate with social work
on patient/family needs for out-of-town patients. Follow-up on
studies and obtain results. Aid in sub-specialist referral. Address
patient concerns/questions received via electronic message or phone
message. Follow-up on patient lab work if applicable. Call in
patient prescriptions/renewals. Follow-up with patients by
telephone after missed clinic appointments, etc. Direct
preauthorization requests for medication to the appropriate team.
Help to standardize written protocols. Update/maintain database.
Update/maintain brochures/website. Maintain list of referred

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or

care. Workers in this position may be exposed to infectious

demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care
appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her
assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the
principles of life span growth and development and the ability to
assess data regarding the patient’s status and provide care as
described in the department’s policies and procedures manual.
Minimum Qualifications Required Current RQI Healthcare Provider
eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The
eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire. Current
license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or
obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if
switching residency to State of Utah. Must maintain current
Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if residency is not being
changed to Utah. Preferred Some positions may require additional
certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support ( ACLS ),
Pediatric Advanced Life Support ( PALS ), or Neonatal Resuscitation
Program ( NRP ) within one year of hire. This position is
patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We

standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for
documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that
